It took two years to build the structure and the access roads. In 2009 everything was ready for the opening, but due to a profound political crisis that affected the State of Madagascar it was due to wait until 2014 to accommodate the first tourists.

Today, Yvonne Ross, the owner, personally welcomes her guests to this enchanting place where comfort and nature come together in perfect harmony.

The main building houses the reception, the bar, the lounge area and the restaurant. It is flanked by eight exclusive suites located on the enchanting bay of Amporaha, all furnished and equipped with taste and sober originality.

Sangany Lodge SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

The staff working at the Sangany Lodge comes entirely from Madagascar although priority is given to the inhabitants of Nosy Be and the surrounding villages in particular. The children here leave school even before they can read and write. Working with us means acquiring a professionalism and having a real chance to improve their life standard.

The beach opposite Sangany Lodge is public, but we feel obliged to take care of it personally. For this reason, a dedicated team cleans it every morning that the sea brings during the night.

Water is a precious commodity. At Sangany it is available all day long both cold and hot. Electricity is produced by an autonomous generator and its access is subject to precise time slots.

The Sangany Lodge is a place of rest and parentheses compared to the daily frenzy. This is why the Wi-Fi system is available, but only from the late afternoon and only in the main structure. Think of it as an internet detox.

Une idée du paradis

Le Sangany is my home and you are welcome!

I introduce myself, I’m Yvonne Ross. I was born and I spent my youth in Madagascar. Ninth of eleven brothers and sisters, at 17, I moved to Paris, where I studied … and still did not know what life would give me. But I was sure of one thing: with a Scottish father and a Sino-Malagasy mother, I could not accept a common destiny!

I surfed around the world. England and the island of Mauritius have marked my formation, Saudi Arabia has opened my eyes on a culture as different as fascinating, Milan and its cuisine have bewitched my palate and gave me the impetus to undertake this adventure in the island of perfumes.

I feel this place mine and not because I was born there. This is a magical place, full of serenity and peace. Infinity and limit are breathed. Nature reigns supreme and punctuates time with its rhythms and colours.
